Film Job Resources

We could all use some help finding a job in the film business, and it really is about who you know and not what you know. But if you don't know anyone, and you've exhausted even the smallest hint of a connection, then it is about what you know. At the very least you know that you can look at this list to help you find a job.

UTA Job List
This list is somewhat exclusive, without knowing someone who gets it, you will never see it, and frankly, if you are here you may have never even heard about it. Ask everyone you know if they get it, and if they do, ask them to forward it to you every time it is sent out. The list is compiled by Jesse Albert at UTA, and it mostly consists of assistant jobs at agencies and small production companies. It also has a large list of internships available, probably the most comprehensive list around, and these are some of the most prestigious companies in the business. No easy way of getting on, just ask everybody you know.

EntertainmentCareers.net
This is a pretty good website that you can find some decent jobs from assistant positions to foreign sales agents and TV news producers. There are some good film companies and tv companies that post here so definitely a good place to keep an eye on from time to time. You can also pay to be a member and get more jobs sent to you directly, and you have access to jobs that the freeloaders don't, but not sure if it is worth it.

Craigslist.org
Craigslist is a pretty good place to find film related jobs, although you have to be careful because there are a lot of flakes and unprofessional people looking for crew and what not on craigslist. In most major cities, there are plenty of jobs under the Film/TV section as well as under Gigs for crew and although there is a craigslist for almost every city in the US, most don't have very many film jobs listed. Craigslist is also just good for finding crew for your next project.

Mandy.com
Mandy is a decent job board with a few jobs here and there. You can pick your geographic region and narrow it down by paid and non paid gigs but the jobs are pretty scattered across the country and there just arent' that many.

Media-Match.com

Media Match has quite a few filmmaking & TV jobs listed these days and they seem like fairly good jobs for the most part. The only problem is that you have to pay to see the contact information, which is not good. The yearly subscription fee as of today is $60 so I guess if you can split it with a couple other starving artists it could be worth it. The jobs on the site are pretty spread out across the country as well, so if you aren't in LA or NY and find something you want to apply for, you can get a one month subscription for $10.

Variety Careers
Pretty good site for film jobs. They have it broken down by categories such as film, tv, online, print, etc. so that is a nice feature. You can also search for the film or tv job you are looking for pretty easily. Overall they have a decent amount of jobs and have some pretty big name companies head hunting on there so definitely a good tool to have in your job hunting arsenal.
